Message from the President and 2008 Golf Tournament Schedule.

Dear Members,

I am truly honored to serve as your President during this coming year.  I thank the Board and its members for entrusting me with this challenging position; and for their confidence in my ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of this position.  I can assure you that I will work hard and devote whatever time is necessary to justify the confidence you have in me.

We all owe many thanks to our Past President, Dr. Vanchai, Board and Committee members for their hard work and dedication.  All I can say is that Dr. Vanchai did a fantastic job and his shoes will be difficult to fill.  He has guided us through many issues, spent an inordinate amount of time working tirelessly on our website, and coordinated all the tournaments, including our yearly Baltimore-NJ Friendship Tournament.  We all had a wonderful and memorable season.  On behalf of the Association I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your efforts.

Many thanks to Khun Monchai and Khun Jirapa who have always been there for the Association:  from providing guidance, making constructive suggestions, cooking delicious meals, balancing checkbooks, etc.  Most importantly, they have again open their home for our annual Spring Meeting.  So, please mark your calendar—Saturday April 5, 2008 at 4 PM (directions and details to follow).

Thanks also to Dr. Theerasak and Khun Yupin who have, again, extended their generosity in allowing us to hold our Farewell Party at their house on October 4, 2008.  As always, we are grateful to your kindness and look forward to this opportunity for bonding with fellow golf members.

My primary focus for the next several weeks will be completion of 2008 tournament schedule/contract.  For those of you who are planning your vacation, I am attaching the 2008 tournament schedule for your reference.  As you can see, I am trying to experiment with a few new courses this year.  Limekiln Golf Club was suggested to me by our members as one of the courses that we should try out.  In addition, Khun Aekasak was kind enough to subsidize our July 6 tournament at High Bridge Hills Country Club.  This golf course, as I was told, is one of the nicer ones in the Central Jersey.  I am excited at this opportunity and hope that many of you will find the time to join us as often as you possibly can.

Please note also that our Baltimore-NJ Friendship Tournament is scheduled for Sunday September 21 at Dupont Country Club in Wilmington, DE.  So, get ready for this exciting upcoming event.

Finally, I cannot thank the Board and Committee members enough for the time they are willing to invest to improve our Association.  I hope to be thanking each and everyone of you individually as well as discussing specific issues and concerns at our April 5 meeting.  Please feel free to e-mail me for any items you would like to have put on the agenda for discussion.

As a new President, I plan on doing my best to provide opportunities for members to play in golf tournaments on a regular basis, thereby enjoying the game of golf as well as establishing and maintaining friendships and fellowships.  This job is a challenge and a new learning experience for me.  I am open to all comments (both positive and negative) and suggestions.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns arising during this year.

Welcome to the 2008 golf season!
